The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 3.5
As its name implies, FormatFactory allows you to change the format of different types of audio, video and image files.

The program is really easy to use. First, you need to select the format to which you want to convert your files.
Then, a window will open, from where you need to choose the files or folders to convert. Then, they will appear on the main screen, where you need to click on the Start button. The conversion process will start. It will take very little time on each file, which is very convenient. This version also includes several advanced features. For example, you can use the program to join two or more audio or video files, and to make audio and video mixes, among other functions.

A nice feature of this new version is the possibility of changing the language and the color of the skin of the program. A little disadvantage in comparision to the earlier version is the fact that the Start button now appears on the upper menu and is hard to find.

The installation wizard asks you to install additional software. Nevertheless, you can decline to do so and still have FormatFactory installed on your system.

If you find the program useful and want to donate, you can do it at the developer's website.

Pros

  • Free.
  • Useful.
  • Many file formats supported.

Cons

  • The Start button is not as easy to find as in earlier versions.

    It's superb.

Among the cons: a lack of detailed tutorials on some fancy features, such as repair damaged files, video crop, and description of the many output settings.
Video Freemake is much better as far as tutorials are concerned.
